A painter who moves between dense, worked canvases and quiet graphite studies — on material, memory, and the figures that keep returning.
Vahag Hamalbashyan is one of the contemporary Armenian artists in the ArtInsight collection. He works primarily in acrylic on canvas and graphite on paper, moving between two very different registers — the built-up, saturated surface of the paintings and the restraint of the drawings.
What holds the two together is a sense of return: certain figures, gestures, and structures reappear across the work, as if the artist were circling the same idea from new angles rather than leaving it behind. The result is a body of work that rewards being seen together, not one piece at a time.
His works are available through the ArtInsight collection, each verified and accompanied by written confirmation of authenticity.
