Mkrtich Matevosyan
Mkrtich Matevosyan was born in 1961, in Gyumri. His extensive career reflects his unwavering commitment to promoting arts and literature. Matevosyan’s journey began with his education at the Yerevan State Pedagogical Institute, Department of Fine Arts, where he honed his artistic skills from 1978 to 1983.

Throughout his career, Matevosyan has held various influential roles. Notably, he is the founder and co-editor of www.arteria.am, a prestigious Cultural and Critical Site that has been shaping intellectual discourse in Armenia since 2011. Additionally, he co-founded the Orange Book Prize and the Back to Book International Festival, both significant platforms celebrating literature and literary talents since 2011.
Matevosyan’s contributions extend further as the founder of the Armenian Book Center in 2009, which serves as a cultural hub uniting notable Armenian publishers and intellectuals. His editorial prowess is evident in his role as co-editor of CORD International Magazine from 2007 to 2008 and as the founder and co-editor of Art Magazine since 2003.
Beyond his editorial endeavors, Matevosyan has made significant strides in cultural activism. He has served as the founder and chairman of Actual Art NGO Culture Union since 1995, advocating for the promotion and preservation of Armenian arts and culture. His artistic talents also found expression as the chief designer of the Children’s State Library since 1999 and as the art director of art graphics Design Studio from 2004 to 2009.
Matevosyan’s professional journey includes notable positions such as head of the Fine Art Department at the Ministry of Culture of Armenia from 1992 to 1995 and as a designer at the Modern Art Museum of Yerevan from 1987 to 1992. His early career began as a designer at the Sardarapat Museum from 1983 to 1984, followed by a significant tenure as an art editor for Hayq, Bern, and Aspet Newspapers and Magazines from 1983 to 1999.
